Requests for Information about Owner Occupiers, Electors & Ratepayers
Recent changes to Regulation 29B of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations mean there are now new rules about who can access owner occupier, electoral and ratepayer details.
Anyone requesting this information must now complete a statutory declaration confirming that it will not be used for commercial purposes (such as marketing, selling, or making money from the information). If a person cannot make this declaration, they will not be able to access the information.
To make the process easier, the Shire has provided a single form — the Request for Information about Owner Occupiers, Electors and Ratepayers – Statutory Declaration. This form includes both the request for information and the declaration required under the updated Regulation.
“Commercial purpose” means using the information to:
-
Sell or resell it,
-
Create or sell another document containing the information,
-
Use names and addresses for marketing or advertising, or
-
Make any kind of profit from it.
