Fire Bans
Total Fire Ban
A Total Fire Ban (TFB) is a prohibition on lighting fires in the open air that is declared by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) for local government areas across Western Australia when a fire is likely to spread rapidly or if widespread fires are already burning and firefighting resources are stretched.
To check if a TFB is declared for the Shire of Jerramungup, visit Emergency WA.
You can find specific information on the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) website for details on what you can and cannot do during a TFB.
Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban
Harvest and Vehicle Movement Bans (HVMBs) are implemented by local governments during periods of high bushfire risk.
These bans are issued by the local Chief Bushfire Control Officer when the operation of engines, vehicles, plant, or machinery is considered likely to start or spread a bushfire and the local weather conditions are conducive to bushfires.
To find out if a HVMB has been issued, contact the Shire of Jerramungup, visit our social media page, or sign up for the Shire’s messaging service to receive alerts. You can do so by visiting the Shire’s website or calling the Shire’s Administration Office on 9835 1022.
You can find specific information on the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) website for details on what you can and cannot do during a HVMB.
A Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban applies to the whole Shire of Jerramungup from 12.01am to 11.59pm on every Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
