Firebreaks

All owners and occupiers are required on or before the 31st day of October 2011 to clear inflammable material from firebreaks and thereafter to maintain the firebreaks clear of inflammable material up to and including the 1st day of May 2012.

It is an offence to construct or maintain firebreaks on a road reserve without the prior approval of the Council, or Main Roads Department in the case of Declared Main Roads.

Burning Times

Burning on Sundays during the restricted and prohibited burning period is banned and will be prosecuted.

The gazetted ” Prohibited Burning Times” within the Shire of Jerramungup will be from 1st November 2011 to midnight on the 1st of March 2012.
It is Council Policy that the “Prohibited Burning Times” be advertised through all local media channels once ratified by a Council meeting.

The gazetted ” Restricted Burning Times” within the Shire of Jerramungup will be from 1st October 2011 to midnight on 31st October 2011 and 2nd March 2012 to midnight on the 1st May 2012.
It is Councils Policy that the” Restricted Burning Times” be advertised through local media channels once ratified by a Council meeting.

NOTE : These dates are subject to variation from time to time according to seasonal conditions, but any alterations will be advertised through media release and updates can be obtained by contacting your Local Government officers.
