The Shire of Jerramungup Statutory Budget 2011/2012 was adopted by Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 20th June. In conjunction with Landcorp the Shire is in the process of finalising the structure plan which will guide the location, look and size of the new town centre. Council will also continue and complete works on the Swamp Road upgrade, Jerramungup Revitalisation project and Bremer Bay Primary School carpark. New works in this year’s budget include the next 5km section of Devil’s Creek Road, reseals and pavement repairs on Lancaster and Derrick Street and gravel sheeting on Rabbit Proof Fence Road and Cameron Road. The Shire of Jerramungup continues to be a strategic organisation and the development of an integrated planning framework to incorporate and consolidate asset management, long term financial and community strategic planning will be undertaken in 2011-2012. This new framework is a mandatory requirement of the State Government and the Shire of Jerramungup already has many of the components in place. Community consultation will commence in the next 12 months to shape our direction for the future. In 2011/2012 changes to the way vacant GRV land is rated come into effect. The Shire of Jerramungup has been significantly impacted by this change with the net impact requiring an 8% increase in GRV properties and a 5% increase in UV properties to yield the same amount of rates as last financial year. This adjustment is a one-off and Council’s aim of a 5% increase will be targeted again next financial year. 2011/2012 fees and charges can be downloaded here, viewed at Council Office within budget documents, or obtained by contacting Council Office.
